Ministries

As our church family grows in faith and love,  we are realizing the variety of gifts our Lord has given us.  We believe in using these gifts to further the limitless graces of God.  Through our various ministries, we nurture to one another and to our community.

“He is the one who gave these gifts to the church; the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.  Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ, until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:11-13

Family Ministries

Our church has participated in the Nothing But Nets Campaign.  Adult Sunday School Classes donated monies from funds collected on a weekly basis.  The Children’s Sunday School Classes collected their own money and gave to the campaign.

We actively participate in the Heifer Project.  Adult Sunday School Classes participate in a variety of ways throughout the year.  The Children’s Sunday School Classes have their own fundraising campaign through friendly competition.

Dime Sunday monies are given to a variety of projects offered through out the year.

Sunday Morning Bible Classes are offered to all age groups.  You will find a place to belong at ACFUMC!

Children’s Ministries

Little Disciples meet on Wednesday evenings from 6p-7p.  Children ages kindergarten through 6th grade gather for a time of singing, worship and fun activities.

Acolytes are a traditional part of the worship service in United Methodist Churches.  A pair of older children light the candles on the altar at the beginning of the Sunday worship service.  The act symbolizes God bringing light into the World and the illumination of The Gospel, God’s word.

Vacation Bible School is held each summer with the entire community participating.

Youth Ministries

Our youth are active in Sunday School and gather monthly for special fellowship.  They also participate in a variety of mission opportunities through out the year.

Adult Ministries

Our Intercessory Prayer Group meets every Wednesday morning to lift up those in our church family, our friends, family and those in our community, to our Lord.

Wednesday evenings at 6:30 many of our adults participate in a Bible study.  Several of our members participate in the music ministry and others give their time to the Nursing Home Worship Service held once a month.

The Golden Girls of ACFUMC meet monthly.  They join together for fellowship, devotionals, spiritual growth and to participate in a variety of activities relating to our church’s needs and each others needs.

L.I.F.T., Learning in Faith Together
In 1993 several “younger” ladies of the church got together and started the group we now know as LIFT, Learning In Faith Together.  The original purpose of this group was to, “build friendships with other Christian women and strengthen our roles as wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend.”  The group also provides a means for Christian fellowship and support for each other through good times as well as difficult times in our busy lives.

Since our conception, LIFT has done just that, provided Christian fellowship and spiritual growth with others who believe in the importance of the Christian family and community.  We have been involved in outreach programs such as visiting the ‘homebound’ of our church family,  maintaining the church flower beds, contributing to the annual church bazaar with crafts made as a group and preparing and delivering meals to community families in response to a joy such as the birth of a child as well as a death or severe illness of a family member.  The annual “Pancake Feed” held in February is a community event to raise funds for the LIFT outreach programs.  LIFT meets monthly to enjoy devotionals relevant to the lives of busy women of the current times. And yes, we have enjoyed lots of fun, food and fellowship throughout the years.

Archer City has a Thrift Shop that is served by the local community.  It provides many needs and is staffed by all of the local churches on a voluntary basis.  Several of our members serve the Thrift Shop on the first Saturday of each month and every fourth Thursday.

There are many other ministries offered through out the year which are well supported by the family at ACFUMC.
